Fat Reduction

Non-surgical fat reduction targets localised deposits that do not respond to diet or exercise. Several mechanisms exist — freezing, heating, and injectable agents that disrupt fat cell membranes. All of them treat shape, not weight.

What can be treated

Small to moderate discrete pockets: lower abdomen, flanks, thighs, upper arms, submental fullness under the chin. Larger volumes and generalised excess are not appropriate for these treatments and are better addressed by weight management or, where suitable, surgery.

How the approach is chosen

It depends on the size and firmness of the pocket, the quality of the overlying skin, and how much downtime you will accept. Where loose skin is part of the problem, fat reduction alone will make it look worse — a tightening treatment needs to be part of the plan.

Honest expectations

Expect a visible change in contour rather than a change on the scale. Multiple sessions are usually needed, results take two to three months, and the outcome holds only if your weight stays stable.

Common questions

Will this help me lose weight?

No. It removes a modest volume of fat from a specific place. It is a contouring treatment, not a weight-loss treatment.

What if I have loose skin too?

Then removing fat without addressing the skin will worsen the appearance. This is assessed at consultation and a combined plan proposed.
